The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has announced a new import programme aimed at ensuring supply security in the feed market and easing cost pressures on the livestock sector. As part of the initiative, the institution will procure a total of 455,000 tonnes of feed grains through two separate tenders scheduled for mid-March 2026.

According to the procurement schedule released by TMO, a tender for 175,000 tonnes of feed barley will be held on March 13, 2026, followed by a second tender on March 16, 2026, for the import of 280,000 tonnes of feed corn. The tenders include an option clause of up to five percent of the announced volumes. Shipments are expected to be distributed across several ports and storage facilities in order to support a balanced supply chain throughout the country.

Deliveries planned across multiple ports

Within the framework of the barley tender, deliveries are planned to several key logistics hubs. Shipments of 25,000 tonnes each are scheduled for the ports of Iskenderun, Adana (Yumurtalık), Mersin, Izmir, and Bandirma. Meanwhile, the Black Sea ports of Samsun and Trabzon are each expected to receive 20,000 tonnes.

A similar distribution strategy is expected for the corn imports, with the objective of supplying feed raw materials efficiently across different regions of the country and maintaining a stable flow of commodities into the domestic market.

Officials from the Ministry and TMO emphasised that the primary objective of the programme is to safeguard stability in the feed market. When combined with the 350,000-tonne corn tender opened at the end of February, the total volume of feed raw material imports planned by TMO within a short period now exceeds 800,000 tonnes.

Market observers note that the prices emerging from the tenders are likely to play an important role in shaping feed prices in the domestic market in the coming months.
