Final days for applications for the Conservation Legacy Awards for US soya producers

The deadline for applications for the 2027 Conservation Legacy Awards, organised by the American Soybean Association (ASA) to honour US soya producers who excel in environmental protection and sustainable farming practices, is fast approaching. Applications for the programme must be submitted by 15 September 2026.

The awards programme aims to recognise soya producers who implement practices that contribute to the long-term sustainability of farms by improving soil health, protecting water quality and increasing efficiency in resource use, whilst maintaining agricultural productivity and profitability.

Under the programme, practices such as cover crops, reduced tillage, nutrient management, irrigation management, diversified crop rotation, buffer zones, terraces and waterways, as well as precision farming technologies, will be assessed. Applications will be evaluated based on soil, water, input and environmental management, as well as producers’ overall conservation and sustainability efforts.

Producers will be selected from four regions

Under the 2027 Conservation Legacy Awards, one producer from each of the US Midwest, Upper Midwest, Northeast and South regions will be eligible to receive a Regional Conservation Legacy Award.

Regional award winners will be recognised at the ASA Awards Celebration, to be held as part of Commodity Classic in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 2 to 5 March 2027. One of the four regional award winners will be selected as the recipient of the 2027 National Conservation Legacy Award.

Producers winning a regional award will be offered a fully funded trip for two to the Commodity Classic, official recognition at the awards ceremony, a news feature highlighting their production operations and conservation efforts, and the production of a professional video showcasing sustainability practices on their farm.

The awards programme is supported by the ASA, as well as BASF, Bayer, Nutrien, Valent USA and Soy Checkoff.

The deadline for applications for the 2027 Conservation Legacy Awards is 15 September 2026. There are only a few days left until the deadline for soybean producers operating in the US to apply for the programme.
