The network offers free membership to professionals under the age of 40 working in the grain handling and processing sectors
The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) is launching the Young Professionals Network (YPN) to support the development of the next generation of leaders in the grain handling and processing sectors.
Mission: Networking and professional development
The YPN’s mission is to empower young professionals in the grain and grain processing sectors by providing them with networking and professional development opportunities. By creating a community of dynamic individuals working towards a common goal, GEAPS aims to actively contribute to shaping the future of the global grain sector.
The necessary information and application form can be accessed at GEAPS.com/YPN. YPN membership is free for those who meet the criteria and is open to all grain sector professionals under the age of 40. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Members are required to attend at least one YPN event per year to maintain their membership status.
Jack Luke, a member of the YPN Action Team and Business Development Specialist at Interstates, stated that he was delighted to contribute to creating more opportunities for those at the start of their careers to connect with the sector. Luke emphasised that there is a wealth of knowledge and experience within GEAPS, and said he was keen to support the building of a community where the next generation can learn together, contribute and develop.
Jackie Hayes, Senior Director of Communications, Marketing and Industry Relations at GEAPS, noted that the YPN offers emerging professionals the opportunity to establish these connections earlier, develop a stronger sense of community and foster relationships that will last throughout their careers. Hayes noted that they want young professionals to view GEAPS not merely as an organisation they can join, but as a professional community where they can develop, contribute and help shape the future of the sector.
Events calendar
YPN will launch its activities with an inaugural virtual event on 2 December 2026. A virtual speaker session will take place in January. The network will also organise a YPN Mixer at the 2027 GEAPS Exchange, to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, from 20 to 23 February 2027.
