COFCO International has achieved a notable double success in sustainability, earning two major regional awards on 24 October that highlight its strong performance and reporting standards in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

In Hong Kong, the company received the Grand Award – International, the highest distinction in its category at the Hong Kong ESG Reporting Awards (HERA). The accolade recognizes COFCO International’s leadership and transparency in sustainable business practices.

On the same day in Singapore, the company was honoured with the Gold Award at the 11th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) during a dinner ceremony celebrating excellence in ESG reporting and progress. Both awards were accepted by Allan Virtanen, Director of Communications & Sustainability, who represented the company at the two events.

The Hong Kong ceremony was hosted by Joseph Chan, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Government of Hong Kong SAR, while the Singapore event was attended by prominent figures including Terence Quek, CEO of the Singapore Institute of Directors; H.E. Nikesh Mehta, British High Commissioner to Singapore; and Dr. Robin Hodess, CEO of the Global Reporting Initiative.

COFCO International was recognised for its alignment with leading sustainability reporting frameworks, including the EU CSRD, GRI, and UN SDGs. The company’s double materiality assessment, third-party assurance, and transparent Scope 3 emissions reporting under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) distinguished it from other nominees.

It was further commended for tangible progress in deforestation- and conversion-free sourcing as well as for the growth in certified sustainable commodity sales, reaffirming its commitment to responsible and transparent global operations.
