With its new destination marketing office in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, ADM aims to bring its customers in the region closer to its global supply chain network.

ADM, one of the leading organisations in the global agriculture and food sector, has announced the opening of a new destination marketing office in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. With this move, the company aims to strengthen its ability to connect its customers in East Africa with its global supply chain network.

Kenya, one of the region’s leading centres for the trade in food and feed raw materials, also serves as a gateway to the wider East African market. Through its presence in Nairobi, ADM will provide regional customers with access to a broad portfolio of food raw materials, feed ingredients and animal nutrition products. The new office will bring the company closer to its regional customers whilst also linking local supply chains to global markets.

The office will focus on targeted marketing activities, including market analysis, local merchandising initiatives, and storage and distribution facilities. In this way, local demand will be directly linked to the company’s global network of supply, transport, logistics and risk management.

“A market with high growth potential”

Patrick Heijbroek, ADM’s Vice President of Global Trade for the EMEA Region and Head of Sourcing, noted in his assessment that East Africa is home to a population of over 500 million and is a market with high growth potential, where demand for high-quality food and feed raw materials and supply chain solutions is on the rise. Heijbroek expressed his excitement at strengthening their presence in the region, where significant growth is taking place in the agriculture and livestock sectors, adding that through their global network of target marketing points, they will be able to connect regional demand with ADM’s global supply chain.

ADM’s presence in Kenya dates back more than a decade. The new office in Nairobi complements the company’s existing investments on the continent. These investments include human nutrition innovation laboratories in Nairobi, a distribution centre in the Lagos Free Zone in Nigeria, and expanded flavour development capacity in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Erdal Kurban, President of ADM Africa and the Middle East and Vice President of Flavour Sales for EMEA, noted that the new office represents a significant step towards strengthening the company’s presence in Africa. Kurban emphasised that by being closer to customers, they would be able to better understand local market dynamics, respond more quickly to changing needs, and connect customers with ADM’s global capabilities.

ADM’s targeted marketing volume for 2025 approached 31 million metric tonnes. This figure demonstrates the scale of the company’s network and its ability to efficiently match supply with demand in key markets.
