The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in partnership with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and funded by the European Union, has launched a new support program for farmers in Sumy Oblast. The initiative will provide $1,000 vouchers to help small and medium-sized farms purchase high-quality seeds and mineral fertilizers for the upcoming planting seasons.
The assistance targets farms cultivating 50 to 300 hectares and prioritizes female-led agricultural enterprises. The goal is to help farmers recover from war-related disruptions, strengthen food security, and ensure successful spring and autumn sowing campaigns.
"This initiative is crucial for restoring agricultural production in war-affected communities," said Vitaliy Koval, Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. "By supporting farmers with essential inputs, we are not only aiding their livelihoods but also reinforcing Ukraine’s role as a global food supplier."
Eligible farmers must submit applications through the State Agrarian Registry (SAR) by May 26, 2025. Selected participants will receive confirmation via SAR, along with instructions on voucher redemption.
Important Note: Submission of an application does not guarantee assistance, as approvals will be based on the program’s eligibility criteria.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the EU, FAO, and Ukrainian government to sustain agriculture amid ongoing challenges. Farmers in Sumy are encouraged to apply promptly to secure support for the upcoming season.
