CHS Inc., the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative, has announced plans to purchase Scoular’s grain facility in Holdrege, Nebraska. The transaction is expected to close before the end of August 2025 and is part of CHS’s broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and expand market access for its farmer-owners.
“The acquisition in Holdrege reflects our ongoing strategy to optimize the CHS supply chain and invest in the long-term success of our farmer-owners,” said Kent Mulder, vice president of operations for CHS.
The Scoular facility will primarily serve as a seasonal overflow site, complementing CHS’s existing location in Holdrege. By leveraging both facilities, CHS aims to strengthen grain origination and transportation capabilities, increase efficiency, and deliver greater value to growers.
“These changes are designed to create a stronger, more efficient network that benefits growers,” Mulder said. “The enhanced speed and space of the Holdrege facility create global market opportunities for Nebraska farmers.”
As part of this strategic realignment, CHS will sell its Roseland and Bladen, Nebraska, facilities to Cooperative Producers, Inc. (CPI), a farmer-owned cooperative headquartered in Hastings, Nebraska. The two cooperatives are working closely to ensure a seamless transition for producers and community stakeholders.
“We are confident these facilities will provide strategic value for CPI given the alignment with their trade territory,” Mulder added. “This realignment also creates additional opportunities to strengthen and maximize efficiencies for the cooperative system in Nebraska.”
The Holdrege investment underscores CHS’s commitment to building long-term value through targeted investments in key geographies, connecting local growers to global markets while enhancing the cooperative’s supply chain network.
