Cargill, one of the world's leading animal nutrition and health companies, will introduce important research findings and new products at the World Mycotoxin Forum (WMF), which will be held on 7-9 April 2025. The company aims to reduce the negative effects of mycotoxins on animal health and performance through extensive global research.
Research conducted by Cargill Micronutrition & Health Solutions is based on the world's most comprehensive mycotoxin database. More than 400,000 analyses from more than 150 feed mills, farms and storage facilities clearly show regional differences in mycotoxin contamination. The data showed increased levels of deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisin (FUM) and zearalenone (ZEN), particularly in Southern Europe, while 78 per cent of samples were found to contain three or more mycotoxins in combination.
‘Healthy animals perform better and feed safety is a crucial part of optimising livestock productivity,’ said Clément Soulet, Category Leader, Cargill Micronutrition and Health Solutions. ‘This database provides producers with real-time, location-specific risk information, helping them make proactive decisions to protect their animals and their bottom line.’
Another key piece of the company's research examines the negative effects of deoxynivalenol (DON) on broiler gut microbiota. The study results revealed that DON-contaminated feed disrupts the natural growth of beneficial bacteria, leading to an increase in harmful pathogens such as Campylobacter and Salmonella. NOTOX AMA, an anti-mycotoxin agent developed to counter these negative effects, is effective in protecting gut health.
Thomas Pecqueur, Additives Technology Leader at Cargill Micronutrition & Health Solutions, said: "Not all mycotoxin binders are created equal. NOTOX AMA stands out for its superior performance, utilising highly advanced mycotoxin absorption technologies to provide unparalleled protection."
Cargill supports its mycotoxin management efforts with innovative digital tools such as the Mycotoxin Impact Calculator (MIC). It also aims to strengthen its leading position in the sector with new products developed under the NOTOX brand. The company's experts will share the details of these innovative solutions at the World Mycotoxin Forum.
These solutions developed by Cargill on mycotoxin management, which is critical for the livestock sector, aim to both protect animal health and increase the productivity of farmers. The company continues to lead the transformation in the sector with this data-driven approach based on scientific research.
