Bunge has announced that it has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the grain elevator assets of North West Terminal Ltd. (NWT), located near Unity, Saskatchewan. The agreement covers the grain elevator and associated storage infrastructure, while NWT will continue to own and operate its fermentation and distillation facility.

With a total storage capacity of 63,000 metric tonnes, the NWT grain facility is among the largest grain handling operations in Western Canada. The site is equipped with full cleaning and drying capabilities and is strategically connected to both Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Canadian National (CN), Canada’s two largest rail networks.

Kyle Jeworski, head of Bunge in Canada, emphasized the importance of the acquisition to the company’s operations. “We look forward to integrating this efficient, high throughput facility into our industry-leading grain asset network. We firmly believe that our operational and logistical expertise, focus on superior service, and targeted future investments in the facility will allow us to bring it to its full potential for the benefit of our customers,” Jeworski said. He added that Bunge also intends to be an active member of the local community as a major employer and supporter of community initiatives.

The agreement remains subject to customary closing conditions. If these conditions are satisfied, the transaction is expected to be completed in October.
