Scott Cooperative Association to Lease Scoular’s Three Grain Facilities in Kansas

The Scott Cooperative Association, which operates in the U.S. state of Kansas, has reached an agreement to lease three grain handling facilities owned by Scoular. According to a joint statement by the two companies, the agreement will take effect on September 1, 2026.

Under the agreement, Scott Cooperative will take over the operation of Scoular’s grain handling facilities located in Oakley, Monument, and Winona. The cooperative, which operates in western Kansas, aims to expand its operational network northward and broaden the scope of services it offers to producers in the region through the leasing of these facilities.

The three facilities, which have rail connections, are expected to strengthen Scott Cooperative’s access to both U.S. domestic and export markets. The facilities’ connection to the rail infrastructure is logistically significant, particularly for delivering large-volume grain shipments to broader markets.

Jason Baker, CEO of Scott Cooperative Association, stated that with this agreement, the company aims to expand its operations and develop new relationships with producers. Baker also emphasized the cooperative’s long-standing history of serving its member producers.

The agreement builds on the existing commercial partnership between the two companies. Scoular and Scott Cooperative are members of the LLC that owns the facilities located in the Selkirk and Pence counties of Kansas, which are operated by Scott Cooperative.

Derek Spears, Operations Director of Scoular’s Grain Division, noted that Scott Cooperative’s management and staff play an active role in developing economic and commercial opportunities in rural Kansas. Spears noted that Scoular is pleased to continue its partnership with the cooperative.

The new arrangement expands the collaboration between the two companies within a broader operational framework for storage, handling, and rail logistics infrastructure in western Kansas—one of the state’s key grain-producing regions. The lease agreement, which takes effect on September 1, 2026, will create new logistics capacity through Scott Cooperative’s expanding network of facilities to the north, enabling producers to deliver their grain to various domestic and export markets.
