Throughout October, activities are being carried out in over 145 communities across 24 countries with approximately 112 local partners
Bunge Global SA, a global player in the agriculture and food sector, has announced that it has entered the fifth year of its annual World Food Day Global Volunteering Programme. Throughout October, the company’s employees are carrying out activities to support food security in over 145 communities across 24 countries, in collaboration with approximately 112 local partners.
Activities tailored to local needs
Bunge volunteers are helping to improve access to food in the regions where they live and work through activities such as sorting and packing food, preparing meals, organising food donation campaigns and making donations to local organisations.
This year’s World Food Day theme is ‘Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow’. The theme highlights how forward-looking solutions, traditional knowledge and inclusive approaches can expand access to sufficient, diverse, safe and nutritious food whilst protecting the planet for future generations. Bunge’s teams of volunteers are also working with a similar ethos, carrying out initiatives adapted to local conditions and aimed at creating lasting local value.
Gabriella Herzog, Bunge’s Global Director of Social Impact, noted that World Food Day serves as a reminder that global food security is a shared challenge and that progress begins with practical ideas shaped by local needs. Herzog said, “Guided by our ‘Doing the Right Thing’ value, our employees – now in the programme’s fifth year – are working alongside local partners to help families access food and strengthen the bonds between farmers and communities. Together, we are contributing to building more resilient food systems in the places where we live and work.”
Bunge’s World Food Day Global Volunteering Programme, launched in 2022, has facilitated more than 500 volunteering activities worldwide to date. Many of these initiatives have evolved into sustainable partnerships that create lasting and positive impacts in the communities where Bunge operates.
