Five new appointments to the Future Drought Fund Advisory Committee in Australia

As part of efforts to tackle drought and build resilience in Australia, five individuals from the agriculture and regional development sectors have been appointed to the Future Drought Fund Consultative Committee.

The new Committee will provide independent advice on the Future Drought Fund’s priorities and investments over the next four years. The aim is for the Fund, through the Committee’s work, to continue supporting priorities that address the needs of farmers, rural communities and regions.

The Committee will comprise individuals with expertise in various fields, including agriculture, climate risks, research, regional development and community leadership. The new members’ knowledge and experience are expected to contribute to policies aimed at enhancing drought resilience across Australia.

Margo Andrae has been appointed as Chair of the Committee, whilst Joshua Gilbert, Anna Harrison, Ashley Herbert and Caroline Welsh have been appointed as members.

Joshua Gilbert and Ashley Herbert have been reappointed to the Committee, thereby contributing to the continuity of its work. The aim is to draw on the experience both individuals gained during previous terms to inform the new Committee’s work.

As part of the new appointments, Brent Finlay, who served as the first Chair of the Future Drought Fund Consultative Committee, was thanked for his leadership and contributions to the Committee.

Over the next four-year period, the new Committee will provide independent views and recommendations on the Future Drought Fund’s investments and priorities.
